Our NPs believe that giving birth is a natural, healthy part of life. They work with mothers-to-be to make pregnancy and birth as natural as possible. Our practitioners are Board Certified professionals. This means they have completed a Bachelor’s or Masters degree in nursing and have specialized with a post- graduate degree in women’s health. They become board certified by passing a national certification examination.

Prenatal Program

We understand that whether this is your first pregnancy or you’re an experienced mother, you will find comfort and support with the staff at Grant Park Clinic.

So what is first? During your initial pregnancy exam, we:

  Obtain your complete health history

Evaluate the impact of health problems on the pregnancy

Discuss weight gain goals and record your current weight

  Check your blood pressure

  Check your urine

Run laboratory tests to check for anemia, diabetes, STDs,
and other conditions.

Test for other medical issues that may need attention

  Start you on prenatal vitamins

  Schedule an ultrasound if needed

Your follow up visits will be monthly for up to 28 weeks, at which time you will be screened for gestational diabetes. We will see you every 2 weeks up until your last and final month. Then your visits will become weekly until delivery.

If your pregnancy appears at risk, we will make individualized care plans that may require closer monitoring, testing and consults with high risk OB providers called perinatologists.

Delivery Services

Grant Park Clinic is well recognized for giving excellent and safe care to our pregnant patients. It is forthat reason that many Atlanta area hospitals partner with us to deliver your baby.

Our most utilized facility is Dekalb Medical Center (www.dekalbmedical.org), and our partners at this facility are Dourron & Dourron OBGYN. Drs. Dourron have been delivering babies for Grant Park Clinic for over 11 years. The doctors provide volunteer services here in the clinic where our prenatal patients are scheduled to meet with them during their prenatal care.

Through the prenatal care program here at Grant Park Clinic, you also have the option of delivering your baby at Northside Hospital (www.northsidehospital.com) with Drs. Dourron and Dourron.

Some of our patients have chosen to deliver to hospitals within their communities including

Southern Regional Medical Center

Wellstar (Cobb, Kennestone, Douglasville) Hospital

Spalding Regional Hospital

Piedmont Fayette Hospital

Rockdale Medical Center

Grady Memorial Hospital

Maternity tours are available at most hospitals. These tours prepare patients for what to expect when you arrive to deliver your baby. During the tour you can complete your preadmission papers, get your questions answered, and orient yourself through the facilities.

Post Partum Care

Once you have your baby, your care continues. The period of time from delivery to 6 weeks afterwards is called the postpartum period.

After your baby is born, much of your time will be spent taking care of your newborn, diapering, feeding, and providing other care. Please take the time to schedule an appointment for you and your newborn. The baby’s check up should be within 2 weeks of taking your baby home. Your postpartum visit occurs between 4-6 weeks after vaginal delivery, and within 2 weeks if you had a c-section.

It is important that you take care of yourself. Rest, a healthy diet, your personal hygiene and taking things slow are all key elements to taking care of yourself. If you are resisting doing these things for yourself, it may be a warning sign that you may be experiencing the postpartum blues.

You will receive instructions and information at the hospital about you and your baby. You will also be reminded to schedule an appointment at the clinic in about 4-6 weeks after you give birth. This gives us an opportunity to see you, welcome your baby, assist you with any breastfeeding concerns and discuss family planning needs.
